Abstract:
Adapted from a collection of studies and essays, many of which had been published as journal articles during the decade preceding the appearance of the Inquiries. Nearly every item shows a striking originality. Included here are the invention of Galton's whistle, the first research on mental imagery, and the first investigation of the association of ideas. The whistle was intended to ascertain the upper limits of audible sound in different persons. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2009 APA, all rights reserved)
